Juneteenth's commemoration is on the anniversary date of the June 19, 1865, announcement of General Order No. 3 by Union Army general Gordon Granger, proclaiming freedom for enslaved people in Texas.![]()
President Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation of 1862 had officially outlawed slavery in Texas and the other states that had rebelled against the Union almost two and a half years earlier. Enforcement of the Proclamation generally relied on the advance of Union troops. Texas, as the most remote of the slave states, had seen an expansion of slavery and had a low presence of Union troops as the American Civil War ended; thus, enforcement there had been slow and inconsistent prior to Granger's announcement.[10] Although the Emancipation Proclamation declared an end to slavery in the Confederate States, slavery was still legal and practiced in two Union border states – Delaware and Kentucky – until December 6, 1865, when ratification of the Thirteenth Amendment to the Constitution abolished chattel slavery nationwide. This morning (June 16, 2021) at approximately 9:15 a.m. a witness located a female child around four years of age, wandering alone in the 1400 block of N. Irving. The child was not able to give a parent’s or caregiver’s name. Officers on scene have not been able to identify the girl, her parents or residence. At the time of this release, the parents have not been located and no calls have been received for a missing child. ![]()

Real Love Equals Real Change will be inviting our commUNITY members, city council members, and school board members to discuss implementing Zero Tolerance on bullying in the Springfield Public School System. We have kids hurting themselves, failing classes, not wanting to attend school, and worst of all killing themselves because of bullying in school. There is no place for bullying in our commUNITY schools. There is no reason why our kids, and their classmates should have to deal with bullying! Kids need harsher punishments, that also extend to the parents. We as a commUNITY will come together to protect our kids, and make the Springfield Public School System a safer place to be whether skin color, finances, lifestyle choice, and so on. Our schools are a place of learning, developing friendships, and finding yourself, not being bullied because of your differences! Please join us on this very important event to rid out school system of bullying for good.

We are 10 days from the Real Love Equals Real Change Easter Egg Hunt. There will be food, music, plastic, and real eggs to find, eggs to dye, and stations to dye eggs. There will be some special eggs of monetary value also to found. This event is free, and open to the children of our commUNITY, and families. We do ask that you were masks if health provides where social distancing is not available. Our two main focus of any event is the safety of our commUNITY members, and make sure they have fun! This will be a great event for the entire family, and you can also take pics with the Easter Bunny himself. We hope to see you there!

If you are a certified egg artist, lol seriously if you wanna have some fun and decorate and paint over 3,000+ boiled eggs, and fill just as many plastic eggs with candy, toys, and money for his is gonna have to be an event itself. Our goal 5 thousand boiled eggs, and 5 thousand plastic eggs filled with candy, toys and money. I will personally put 100 dollar bills in 100 plastic eggs, and ask any of my friends to match me. There will also be 1 very special RLRC egg. To the kid who finds this egg we will pay your rent up to $600. Inside this egg will be a note from me to bring to me to receive a $600 money right there from me. This is gonna be a great day!![]()

This Sunday 3-14-21 we continue into the season of Real Love Equals Real Change as we get serious about the safety of our commUNITY with this free gun safety class for members of our commUNITY. This is not a gun training class, so please don’t bring firearms. This is a Gun Safety class free to our commUNITY to help keep our commUNITY members safe. Didn’t know where you could go to a gun safety class? Couldn’t afford a gun safety class? Well this Sunday we erase those excuses for you. There is a growing need for some to own a gun, but the need to be knowledgeable in gun safety is far more important! I hope to see you out for this important commUNITY event.
